Section 2 - Set Up Information

Question 1   Rain Gauge displays --.-

The maximum open-air distance is 80 feet in a straight line although you should take into account distance and resistance. Subtract 25-30 feet for an exterior wall or any obstruction that is similar in width or composition. Subtract 15-20 feet per interior wall or any instruction that is similar in width or composition. (An obstruction would include a roof, walls, floors, ceilings, trees, etc.) Also keep your units away from electronic appliances like TV’s, microwaves, computers, refrigerators, and speakers.

The receiver may have trouble maintaining a signal through metal siding, stucco walls, and UV glass. You can get the remote sensor to transmit through these materials, but it will take a little bit of trial and error. Reset the weather station as mentioned above and change the angle that the remote transmits through the siding or glass until an outdoor temperature remains on the display for an extended period of time. Keep in mind that the signal from the remote must travel through some space (8 inches of air minimum) before reaching the metal wall or glass window.

Section 3 - How the 1 hour and 24 hour rainfall feature works

Question 1   How the 1 hour rainfall feature works

The rain gauge will measure the amount of rainfall over the period of one hour. It will take readings at the top and the bottom of the hour, so at 12:00 and 12:30 the display will update the hourly rainfall.

Question 1   How the 24 hour rainfall feature works

The rain gauge will measure the amount of rainfall over a twenty-four hour period. The rain gauge will take readings in the morning and in the evening and update the display accordingly.

Section 4 - Display is blank

Question 1   Batteries may need to be replaced

Check the polarity on your batteries to make sure they are installed according to the diagrams in the battery compartment. Also make sure that you are using a new good quality alkaline battery. If the display is still blank after following these steps please contact us via email at support@lacrossetechnology.com or by phone at
