To function properly, the digital wall clock must be started correctly using good quality alkaline batteries and the time must be set.

     

Section 1 - Time Display

     
Question 1   Display is blank
     
   

Check the polarity on your batteries to make sure they are installed according to the diagrams in the battery compartment. Also make sure that you are using a new good quality alkaline battery.

     
Question 2   Change the way the date is displayed
     
   

Press and release the + button to change your display options.

     
Question 3   Time is incorrect or not displaying at all
     
   
  1. If you have not yet installed the batteries or plugged in the clock and it shows a time, remove the scratch-guard from the LCD panel.
  2. This clock receives a signal from Ft. Collins, Colorado (WWVB) to set the clock to atomic time. Sometimes, due to adverse weather or atmospheric conditions you will not be able to receive a signal immediately. The best way to get a signal is to put your clock in a window facing Colorado until you see the tower icon appear.
  3. If your time is off by an increment of 1 hour, change your time zone to match your location.
     

Section 2 - Outdoor Temperature Information

     
Question 1   Display the outdoor temperature
     
   
  1. Bring both units inside and have the units 3-5 feet apart with nothing in- between them.
  2. Remove the batteries from both units.
  3. Press one of the buttons at least 20 times or until the display is blank to clear all memory.
  4. Put the batteries back into the remote sensor.
  5. Taking care not to press any buttons, reinstall the batteries in the display.
  6. Do not press any buttons for at least 10 minutes after installing the batteries. (Let them establish a good connection.)
  7. An outdoor temperature should be showing on your display. You can now put your outdoor sensor back outside.

The maximum open-air distance is 80 feet in a straight line although you should take into account distance and resistance. Subtract 25-30 feet for an exterior wall or any obstruction that is similar in width or composition. Subtract 15-20 feet per interior wall or any obstruction that is similar in width or composition. (An obstruction would include anything that is between the line of sight like a roof, walls, floors, ceilings, trees, etc.) Also keep your units away from electronic appliances like TV’s, microwaves, computers, refrigerators, and speakers.

We have trouble maintaining a signal through metal siding, stucco walls, and UV glass. You can get the remote sensor to transmit through these materials, but it will take a little bit of trial and error. Reset the weather station as mentioned above and change the angle that the remote transmits through the siding or glass until an outdoor temperature remains on the display for an extended period of time. Keep in mind that the signal from the remote must travel through some space (3 inches of air minimum) before reaching the metal wall or glass window.

     
Question 2   Mounting the remote sensor
     
   

In order to get an accurate reading and to prolong the life of your sensor we recommend that you have it in a sheltered area out of the sun and direct rain. Make sure that the sensor is higher than your display. Fog and Mist will not affect the sensor, but a soaking in water may. You can mount it outside under an eve of your house or any other suitable place that will keep it out of the sun and rain. Do not wrap the sensor in plastic or seal it in a plastic bag.

     

Section 3 - Moon Phase

     
Question 1   How does the moon phase work?
     
   

The segments that are highlighted will portray the part of the moon that is lit. For instance, the moon will be blank during a new moon and dark during a full moon. This is set by the tower in Ft. Collins and therefore needs a signal in order to read accurately. The Moon on the clock has only 4 segments to show all 28 days in a lunar month. This may cause the moon phase feature to be off by a few hours. For example a full moon may not show on the exact hour that your calendar may say the full moon is.
