LA CROSSE TECHNOLOGY - What to do for Daylight Saving Time
Daylight Saving Time Rules Change... No Problem for La Crosse Technology!

Important Information Regarding New Changes to the Daylight Saving Time (DST) Rules:

On September 8, 2005, a bill was signed into law that will extend Daylight Saving Time by nearly a month. Starting in 2007, Daylight Saving Time will begin the 2nd Sunday of March and end the 1st Sunday in November. This change in dates has created some concerns about products that automatically adjust for DST.

How Will the DST Change Affect La Crosse Technology Radio-Controlled Instruments?

Every day, La Crosse Technology radio-controlled devices synchronize their time and date information automatically with the National Institute of Standards and Technology's atomic clock in Colorado. This means that if you own a La Crosse Technology radio-controlled device, you will not have to worry about the new DST changes beginning in 2007.

Many other companies, however, have products that only claim to automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time. If the product is not radio-controlled, it will not correctly adjust for the DST changes in 2007.

Atomic Analog Clocks

Atomic Analog Clocks

The auto-adjust for Daylight Saving Time function may take up to three to five days to update depending on factors that include your location and current atmospheric conditions.

Please verify the following questions to receive the WWVB signal...

  1. To properly Restart your analog clock
Remove the battery and press the "manual" set tab 20 times. This clears any electricity out of the clock.
  2. Verify that the Alkaline Batteries are dated at least 6 years in advance.
Without proper batteries, the antenna will have a harder time picking up the signal..
  3. Insert the battery into the clock. Do not touch any buttons.
The second hand should advance 6-10 seconds then stop.
  4. Wait 5 minutes.
If the WWVB signal is not received, the clock hands will automatically spin to
4, 8, or 12:00 and stay there until the WWVB signal is received.

  8. Please note, this clock defaults to DST being ON.
If you do not observe DST, press the small-unmarked button between the ET and CT buttons, one time to turn DST to "OFF".

The clock may show erroneous readings during the first few days. The WWVB tower in Colorado increases the signal power, which sometimes causes the clock to reset itself.
