Key Terminology

Locations

Are meant to help organize groups of devices according to a specific spot (i.e. Home, Cabin, Parents House, etc.). This is particularly handy when using the Quick View feature (tap the top info bar), which shows the main data for all devices assigned to a location.

Access the Locations tab from the main app menu to modify your order, names, and custom Quick View location background images.

Devices

Refer to any product that interacts with the La Crosse View app. These can be referenced as Gateways, Sensors, Displays, Stations, or a combination of each. Access the Devices tab from the main app menu to modify device names, order, and other settings.

Gateways

Are devices that connect to your home Internet and relay sensor or other device data to the La Crosse View app. Currently, Bridge Gateways and our series of Wi-Fi Weather Station displays fall into this category. Use the Gateways tab from the main app menu to view and modify gateways specifically.

Sensors

Devices that collect data from around your home and transfer their information via radio transmission to your gateway(s) and/or display(s).

Sensors themselves do not connect to Wi-Fi or communicate with the app directly.

Displays

Are screens that collect and show sensor data. These devices can also be gateways with their own built-in ambient temperature and humidity readings.

Not all displays are gateways; some add-on or "bonus" displays may only show data from specific sensors around your home with no communication with the La Crosse View app.

Stations

Refer to our Wi-Fi Weather Stations, which are both gateways and displays that often come with a collection of sensors for tracking backyard weather conditions.

The location information provided in the La Crosse View app is used to generate accurate Internet forecast updates on the station itself. You can also use the app to set up custom Data Streams on many of our latest stations.
