La Crosse View

La Crosse Technology may at our discretion provide weather information from Accuweather, NWS or other weather forecast and climate data providers.

Weather Station Data Transparency Notice

This notice is product-scoped. It covers a Weather Station, Non-connected Weather Station, or Wireless Weather Station, together with associated sensors, when the product provides local-only display, storage, or access and does not use the La Crosse View app, account, or cloud service. It does not by itself apply to a Wi-Fi Connected Weather Station or Wi-Fi Connected Gateway when those products are configured for the La Crosse View related service. This notice is published by La Crosse Technology Ltd., La Crosse, Wisconsin, United States, for applicable products sold or supplied by La Crosse  Technology Ltd. Separate service terms or notices may apply if the same or similar hardware is later paired with a connected service.

DATA GENERATED BY THE PRODUCT

Product data generated by the product

Covered products may receive, generate, display, and locally store data such as temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, rainfall, wind, leak status, indoor readings, timestamps or measurement intervals, highs, lows, averages, alarm thresholds, battery level of associated sensors, sensor reception status, configuration settings, calibration values, and product or sensor version information, depending on model and features.

User-entered and configuration data

Covered products generally do not require an online account and ordinarily do not generate cloud account-registration data while used in local-only mode. Some models may allow the user to enter or adjust settings such as time, date, time zone, labels, alarms, calibration values, or location-related settings on the product; when used in local-only mode, such settings ordinarily remain on the device.

Use of readily available local data

The product uses readily available local data to display current readings, maintain highs, lows, averages or limited history, manage associated sensor links, trigger on-device alerts where supported, and support ordinary product operation and troubleshooting. Data remains local unless the product is separately paired with a connected service.

Data not ordinarily captured

The products in scope do not include cameras or microphones. They are not intended to collect ordinary cloud account telemetry or remote location tracking while used in local-only mode.

COLLECTION, LOCAL STORAGE, AND RETENTION

Collection frequency and indicative volume

Associated sensors may update the Weather Station at intervals ranging from about every 30 seconds to every 30 minutes depending on product, sensor type, and feature. A single associated sensor may therefore contribute from under one hundred to a few thousand local updates per day, although not all updates are retained as long-term history.

Standby

If a Weather Station is powered on and in standby, without immediate user interaction, it may continue receiving data from associated sensors, updating the display, and maintaining limited local records such as current readings, highs, lows, averages, alarms, or timestamps, depending on model.

Powered off

When the Weather Station is powered off, it does not forward data to any cloud service as part of this local-only use case. Certain readings, settings, or records may remain stored locally in device memory or flash memory and may be available again when power is restored, subject to model design, reset actions, battery backup, and memory limitations.

Data format

Data is generally stored or processed in local device memory as structured measurement records, settings, status values, or summary values such as highs, lows, averages, alarms, and timestamps. Most covered products are designed primarily for on-device display and local operation rather than electronic export.

Processing and storage location

Data is generally processed and stored locally on the Weather Station and, where applicable, in associated sensor memory or local flash memory used for device operation. In this local-only use case, no routine remote cloud processing or storage is required.

Retention

Local retention depends on the product model, available memory, and power design. Current readings may be displayed temporarily; highs, lows, averages, alarm settings, calibration values, and limited history may be retained until overwritten, cleared or reset by the user, backup power is exhausted, or the product loses retained memory. Model-specific retention or reset behavior is described in the applicable product manual.

ACCESS, DELETION AND CONTACT

Publisher identity and contact

This notice is published by La Crosse Technology Ltd., La Crosse, Wisconsin, United States. Customer-support and product-contact details should be provided in the applicable product materials, packaging, manual, or official support resources published by La Crosse Technology Ltd.

Who can access data

Data is ordinarily accessible directly by the user through the product display, buttons, menus, and other local controls. Because the product is intended for local-only use, no routine cloud-side administrative access is required under this notice. La Crosse Technology Ltd. or an authorized support provider acting on its behalf may access locally stored data only to the extent the user presents the product, provides the data, or otherwise seeks support through permitted channels.

How the user can access or retrieve data

Users ordinarily access data directly on the Weather Station display and local menus, including current readings, sensor status, alarms, and any highs, lows, averages, or limited records supported by the model. Covered products do not provide cloud access. If a specific model offers a local wired interface, removable storage, or PC-based utility, retrieval is governed by the applicable La Crosse Technology Ltd. product documentation.

Requests to share data with third parties

No public end-user cloud API or ordinary third-party data-sharing workflow is offered for the local-only products covered by this notice. If a user chooses to share readings or records, that sharing generally occurs by viewing, manually recording, photographing, or otherwise providing the locally displayed data, unless a specific model offers a separate documented local export feature.

Delete data and product reset

Users can generally delete or clear locally stored readings or settings by using on-device reset functions, clearing history records, removing associated sensors, or performing a factory reset, depending on model. Deletion may also occur when local memory is overwritten or retained memory is lost. Because these products are local-only, deleting local product data does not by itself delete any separate service account unless the product is also paired with a different connected service.

API / SDK, local quality, and protected technical information

No public end-user cloud API or SDK is offered for the local-only products covered by this notice. Access depends primarily on the product display, local controls, power status, local sensor-link quality, retained memory, and model-specific features. This notice does not provide public access to source code, security credentials, protected diagnostics, or other protected technical information beyond what applicable law requires.

Use of data by the product and publisher

The product uses readily available local data to operate its ordinary on-device features, including displaying readings, maintaining supported records, and supporting local alarms or troubleshooting. This notice does not create any new right for La Crosse Technology Ltd. to use data beyond what applicable contracts and law allow.

It is intended to accompany separate connected-product notices that may be published by local sellers, distributors, manufacturers, or by La Crosse Technology Ltd. when it sells the physical
product directly.

COLLECTION, TRANSMISSION, STORAGE AND RETENTION

Collection frequency and indicative volume

While powered, connected, and configured for the service, compatible Wi-Fi Connected Weather Stations and Wi-Fi Connected Gateways may send updates ranging from about every 30 seconds to every 30 minutes depending on product and feature. A single connected device may therefore contribute from under one hundred to a few thousand service records per day.

Powered off

No data is sent to the La Crosse View cloud while a Wi-Fi Connected Weather Station or Wi-Fi Connected Gateway is powered off, although limited records may remain stored locally in device flash memory until power is restored, subject to model design, reset actions, battery backup, and memory limitations.

Data format

Data handled through the service is generally stored and processed as structured digital records associated with the user's account and devices. Where end-user export is offered, it is generally provided in CSV format.

Processing and storage location

Data handled through the La Crosse View related service is processed and stored on remote cloud systems operated for the service and hosted in the United States, currently in the US Central region. Certain service providers may process limited data on our behalf to support authentication, messaging, and platform operations. Limited data may also remain on the connected product or the user's mobile device for operational purposes.

Retention

Account and device registration data are retained while the account remains active and are removed when the account is deleted. Historical weather and sensor data held in the service is generally retained for approximately 400 days, although the period visible or exportable in the app may vary by product and service plan. Operational logs and temporary diagnostics are retained only as needed for service operation, security, and troubleshooting. Product-side local retention may be addressed separately in the applicable connected-product notice.
